Exploring Two Local Zakka Shops in Guangzhou
Different buyers have different preference, but if they consider their work as a task to complete, they could never be able to select good stuffs.

During our visit to BADMARKET and Pola Wang, the two local zakka shops in Guangzhou, we sat down with the owners and let them introduce the four items that are so valuable/cost effective that they don’t want to sell.

According to Miao, the owner of BADMARKET, a lot of buyer shops are killing themselves. Different buyers have different preference, but if they consider their work as a task to complete, they could never be able to select good stuffs. So, Miao is the sole decider of what brand/item to carry in BADMARKET.

Product Details:

CCC Tear Collection Cup is a local brand carrying loose fit street style apparels. Its products are all with a style that’s clean and neat with a fair price.

Notebooks and Pens from STALOGY. Miao appreciates the minimalism design idea of this stationary brand a lot although the products are not so cheap.

Ball-Point Pen from the Japanese brand MARK’S Inc. Its wooden barrel is written with French sentence “tous les jours mes stylos”, meaning “my everyday pen”.

Folks who is familiar with Pola Wang would know they sell mostly second hand dolls and gears. All the stuffs are brought back by Pola wang (and her boyfriend) from flea markets, antique stores or local people’s warehouses in the United States.

According to Wang, they made detailed plans before they go to the States. For example, if they plan to stay in the States for two months, the time estimated would allow them to attend three to four open markets. They have to be decisive when they see something they like because there would be a lot of competitors, especially the Japanese.

Product Details:

The set of wooden craft was found in L.A. It can be sold for a good price but I don’t want to. It was so difficult to find.

Two Cupid dolls. The one on the left is the original 1920 version. Not Cheap when buying them.

Mexican masks for religious occasions hanging on the wall.
